For 2011 we have put together a KAVU A-list of characters and athletes we sponsor that are constantly out there living the KAVU lifestyle and dream. They are chasing, summer, winter, water, snow adventure...the open road, sea, mountain and river. They are the first ones up drinking coffee as the sun rises, and the last ones standing at the campfire telling stories that most could only dream of. Among the long time ambassadors... Tyler Bradt, The Jeffs and Caroline Gleich...we have found a character that is about as KAVU as they come. Meet Sara Close:
Surfer, Climber, Yogi, Diver, Skier, Adventurer, Environmentalist, Writer, Photographer. ...she can also play the Violin.
Her most recent base camp was Boulder, Colorado where she worked for Leave No Trace. Sara is featured in our up and coming KAVU sponsored film, "Playgrounds Re-imagined" as an environmental hero that is inspired to save the places she plays by dedicating her education and profession to protecting wild places.
However, last spring she went on a diving trip to Mozambique and became inspired by the ocean, which sparked a new chapter in her life.
Educated and Inspired. Two things that go hand in hand for making a difference in the world. These two amazing gifts have recently landed Sara her dream job with a unique organization called 5 Gyres. Their mission is to: conduct research and communicate about the global impact of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans and employ strategies to eliminate the accumulation of plastic pollution in the 5 subtropical gyres.
Basically, she is headed out on a boat full of scientists to do research about plastic pollution in the ocean and then help relay this info to the masses. She leaves for South Africa on Friday and will set sail for Uruguay in the coming weeks. Check back for more updates on Sara's adventures!
Saying goodbye to the Colorado mountains and hello to the Open sea! Good Luck Sara...

Just wanted to thank you, not just because the nice post, but pretty much more because my grandfather is nearly recovering from his surgery and he has almost nothing to do but staying on bed all day, his best source of entertainment has been this blog and I feel this is something good for him and his recovery.
